Squash – Spaghetti

Pot Size: Grown in a 4-inch pot, ready for transplanting into your garden or a larger container.

Appearance & Growth Habit: Spaghetti squash is a fast-growing vine with long, trailing stems. The fruits are oblong and pale yellow when ripe, typically 8-12 inches long. The plant produces large, broad leaves, and the squash grows in a compact, productive manner, making it a good option for small garden spaces or raised beds.

Care Requirements: Thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining, fertile soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially when the squash is developing, but be careful not to overwater. Space plants about 3 feet apart to allow the vines to spread.

Flavor Profile: When cooked, spaghetti squash has a mild, slightly sweet flavor with a satisfying texture that resembles spaghetti noodles. The flesh is stringy and can be easily pulled apart with a fork, making it a healthy alternative to pasta.

Ideal Use: Perfect for roasting, steaming, or baking. Once cooked, the flesh can be scraped into "noodles" and used as a pasta substitute in a variety of dishes. Try it with marinara sauce, garlic and olive oil, or in casseroles. It can also be grilled or sautéed for savory dishes.

Special Benefits: Spaghetti squash is low in calories and high in fiber, making it a great addition to a healthy diet. It's rich in antioxidants, such as beta-carotene, and is an excellent source of vitamin C. The plant also attracts pollinators, adding to the biodiversity of your garden.
